Short Description
This study contributes to a Nature Conservation project in Klein-Pöchlarn (Lower Austria) by focusing on land-use change in a certain local area, the so-called “Rindfleischberg”. As data from the Franciscan Cadastre (1817–1835) illustrate, viniculture has been gradually abandoned at the “Rindfleischberg”. The former vineyards which had existed since the Middle Ages were transformed into in arable land, grassland, and forest areas. The project report facilitates a better understanding of how historical land management has shaped contemporary landscapes as well as fauna and flora.
